The Rock 'n' Roll Express to Be Inducted into WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017

"It was a surprise," Ricky Morton said when WWE told him about The Rock 'n' Roll Express' induction, per CBSSports.com's Denny Burkholder. The Rock 'n' Roll Express were perfect foils for heel tag teams such as the Midnight Express and Four Horseman in NWA. The Rock 'n' Roll Express' induction comes as little surprise, and the only question is why it took so long for WWE to give them their Hall of Fame due. The Rock 'n' Roll Express helped anchor the National Wrestling Alliance's tag division in the 1980s.
The Rock 'n' Roll Express, one of the most popular high-flying babyface tag teams, is headed to the WWE Hall of Fame, the company announced Monday. The feud between The Rock & Rock Express and the various versions of the Midnight Express and their manager Jim Cornett were among the best in the history of tag team wrestling and happened in multiple organizations. They won the tag team titles on their first night with the company. Even today, the 60-year-old Morton and 58-year-old Gibson still wrestle on the independents and make countless appearances at autograph signings. They wrestled in the AWA, Smoky Mountain Wrestling where they were 10-time tag team champions; the USWA, WCW and made brief appearances in the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE).
